If we were to make a list of the most important of photography, autofocus would certainly be among them. This technology came in the late ’70s with the Konica C35 AF (auto liability) and soon after with the Canon AF35M(active autofocus). At present any camera, whether compact, SLR or even mobile includes one form or another auto focus which makes it much faster to focus our scene.

This technology is increasingly accurate, but is not perfect. Sometimes the focus may not be a help in focusing, quite the contrary. Under certain conditions the camera is unable to find the focus point we want or it is changing because the scene is moving. In such cases it is convenient (in the cameras allow, of course) use the manual approach life. In ephotozine.com have developed a short list of situations that should dip into the manual focus.

Without enough light: It is true that some cameras have a lamp (or take advantage of the flash) to illuminate the scene briefly and facilitate the task of auto focus, but sometimes is not enough or takes too long.

When there is insufficient contrast: The autofocus operates generally by contrast. If the scene you are photographing is not enough contrast, costs a lot to find the perfect focal point.

Action Photography: Although today’s cameras with a continuous autofocus system (AFC), the truth is not always easy to keep the focus on an object or subject is moving. Again, the easiest thing in these cases usually go to manual focus and not depend on AF.

HDR Photography: You know that to take pictures of HDR or high dynamic range is necessary to take several shots of the same scene which are then combined into one. The problem is that we need everything to be exactly the same in all three shots. If you use auto focus, our camera can change the point of focus between exposures. The same can be applied to the portraits of double exposure.

Macro photography or approach: In this type of photography work with a very small depth of field and is vital to get the point of focus is exactly where we want it to be. Autofocus can play tricks, so it’s best to forget it and move to manual focus.

When something blocks our subject: The clearest example is when shooting through a fence or a wire rack. With auto focus, focus can end up with the fence and not behind, while with the manual approach is simpler than what is focused is exactly what we want it to be. In this case it is convenient to use a wide aperture to reduce depth of field and blur what we have in the foreground to make it look as possible.

Landscape photography: Normally, when we are taking pictures of scenery, we want to leave everything in focus. To achieve this we must find the hyperfocal distance of our goal. To find that perfect spot you need to use manual focus, especially so that the camera does not change the focus when we go to shoot.

When shooting through glass: Autofocus can detect marks or reflections on glass and focus directly to the glass when what we want is to focus on something behind. With manual focus you can select the focus point at will to avoid this inconvenience.

Today I bring an interesting video in which the Canadian photographer Ryan Doco Connors explains how they work and create creative portraits. To do this use a personal project entitled The four elements in which photography at four different models representing the classical elements of fire, water, wind and earth.

The Connors photographs appearing in this short report are taken with a Nikon D300 and a softbox Wescot Apollo 50 inch illuminated with an SB-600. Nothing particularly complicated, but with the right idea, a very careful styling and proper editing becomes a very interesting result.

It’s amazing how every time the world of photography and film come together, example is the many short filmmakers who choose the technique of stop motion to make their creations. Today I want to show a short film very funny made with this technique is an ode to love and respect.

The protagonist of this beautiful story lives in a world of numbers. The zeros are rejected and marginalized by the rest of the people who are also numbers. Hate is such that even abused by their society. But love and courage are the forces that will make the fate of our little hero to change.

Zero is a short stop motion animation written, produced and directed by Christopher Kezelos. Numerous awards have recognized the quality and merit of this work, among the most significant awards we destadar: The Shorts Fest: Best Animation, ATOM Award for best animated short, Bondi Festival of Short Films for Best Screenplay, International Film Festival Naples for Best Short Film, Rhode Island International Film Festival: First Place – Best Animation, AFI Awards 2010: Nominated for best short animation and Australian Society: Gold Award – Experimental and Specialized.

The director gets a rhythm of history is very fluid and creating remarkable metaphor in this story in today’s society, perhaps a little crude, but also full of hope and love, elements that can make difficult situations to see an end happy or hopeful light.

It seems inappropriate to offer tips for better photos on the beach at this time of year. However, winter and spring may be the most propitious to find deserted beaches in which to take pictures without worrying that some spontaneous strain. In Photoity.com we offer some tips for taking photos on the beach . I found interesting, so here’s a brief summary.

To begin, we recommend taking pictures at dawn or dusk to avoid the sunlight is very strong and perpendicular to the ground and cause harsh shadows. This is especially important if you’re going to do portraits on the beach, as sunlight can create shadows under the eyes and nose. Next to this we suggest using a polarizing filter to make the colors come out bright and vivid and to reduce glare from water, if we want.

The third piece of advice they give us to take pictures at the beach is getting wet feet. That is, we do not be scared to approach the water and use its momentum and reflexes which may result in the sand and help to add interest to images. Another advice given if we’re going to do portraits on the beach is or use reflectors to diffuse and redirect light or reflector use the sand as naturally making our subjects to sit or lie down in it.

We also recommend using a wide angle lens to better capture the sense of isolation and distance that we sometimes have when we walk alone on a beach. So give the impression that the bottom extends for miles. And with a wide angle lens can keep the entire scene in focus.

The New York Times has decided to share with everyone a great part of his photographic archive. To do Tumblr have used the tool, which have created a photoblog called The Lively Morgue. There are published photos of his longtime and extensive photographic archive, which dates from the mid nineteenth century.

The Lively Morgue The name refers to the nickname which is known in the diary to your image store, The Morgue. At the moment we do not know when or how often to publish images in this new Tumblr, but do not lack material. In fact, if ten photographs published daily, they can seamlessly year 3935 only to its print collection.

The most interesting is that The Lively Morgue is not limited to publishing the photos without more, but that goes with a short description explaining when he took and what it represents, plus photo credits (typically own diary or a photographer freelance), labels relating to the subject or the time and links to share images on Twitter and Facebook.

Trick photography is a superb approach to wow and befuddle your friends. Unquestionably the most remarkable trick pics are manipulated with software programs such as Photoshop, but let’s say you’re not a technical whiz? Don’t worry. There’s a range of trick photography techniques that could be actually created.

Perspective is how we visually see the space between us and also objects and their connection to the area around them. A trick photography referred to as Perspective Distortion makes use of this kind of to produce fascinating trick photographs. Perspective Distortion is sometimes producing an object appear extraordinarily big in comparison to the rest of the setting or creating materials in the foreground and background seem as if they’ve little or no distance between the two.

The effect is done possible by the fact that cameras translate images in 2 proportions in contrast to our eyes which in turn operate in 3d. This big difference is made sharp when designing simple trick photography. In reality the particular theme in the foreground is of similar size to those in the backdrop, but because they are positioned further away from the camera than he is actually, they show up much smaller. If our subject in the forefront had his palms by his side the consequence would be non-existent. This displays exactly how critical it is to utilize imaginative poses to actually carry the influence.

Angles:

One of the least complicated tips you can accomplish in photography with no working with digital effects is simply by simply switching the digital camera on its side. The strategy to this trick photography is capturing some thing which when turned to the side provides a whole new meaning. In this picture we notice a boy laying horizontally on some rubble as it might appear in fact. This is the very same photo but how it was actually taken. You will observe that now it seems as if the boy is scaling a rock face vertically. This was reached by titling the digicam – in this circumstance – 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Once again this is a photo which can only operate if you make use of your backgrounds and themes artistically.

Long Exposures:

Long exposure photography is a trick photography which demands a slow shutter speed. Many digital cameras allow a person to adjust your shutter speed physically. This approach is actually best employed when photographing moments where right now there is both a fixed theme and shifting topics. The result causes trailing light to style off of the shifting materials and can offer you along with a very interesting looking photograph. A number of of the much more excellent results you can achieve with long exposure photography involve taking pics outside at night with fast changing bright lights. This picture shows a theme employing a sparkler. The slow shutter speed of the digital camera delivers the footprints of light an visual appeal comparable to lightning. If you test along with unique colours and speeds you can create astonishing and complex looking results.

Well I’m hoping that gave you a few inspiration to go out and produce some great trick photography with your camera. You simply need a little originality, so proceed, take some snaps and most importantly have fun with it!

Dullaway Sanna is a Swedish artist with a great mastery of photo editing. It seems that recently started a business on restoration of old photographsand colored. To show his skill, has taken pictures of famous personalities like Albert Einstein, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, Winston Churchill or Charles Darwin and has been restored and colored.

In some cases the state or age of the original photo can not do miracles, but the result is really impressive in the majority. One example is the photo that you have the beginning of the post, the photograph of the kiss in Times Square between a nurse and a sailor.

In your photo album has also posted pictures of anonymous people who have spent some users and displayed before and after passing through their hands. Some of them show significant damage originally. If you have ever tried to fix an old photograph you do not need to explain the patience it requires. There is no doubt that Sanna can make a living with his ability.

Choosing between presenting a black and white image and present it in color can have its advantages. Both options have their strengths and both have their drawbacks.

The black and white can enhance the expression of a portrait, can accentuate the texture of the object in focus, you can create dramatic and can make focused attention on the object. All these advantages may play us against if we need is just the opposite.

People are still very adept at this preference (especially portraits) and there are great works, personally speaking, color would not impact the same way.

However, there are situations where color is the main player in an image. It would be a crime to deprive a picture the color of a sunset , the color of a flower or the color of a pair of blue eyes.

There are other situations where choice is not so easy , then we must appeal to our taste, to some opinion or preference of the client if necessary.

In short, to choose between B & W or color is good to first know the goal you want to achieve with the image and is good to know also the limits and scope of each alternative, but certainly when it comes to photography as art, the decision end is very far from being good or look bad.

To take great macro photography, you will need to invest in the appropriate equipment. To just buy a lens and focus on close hoping for a good shot is not the way to do it.

Macro photography is a situation whereby you get up close and personal with your subject. True macro photography is working on approximately 1:1 ratios or closer. This produces an image that is true to the size or much larger than the subject being photographed. It is easy to get confused with this type of photography in terms of what is considered really macro. Normally macro photography ranges from life size 1:1 up to ten times enlargement 10:1, which is believed to be the exact definition of macro photography.

To take great macro photography, you will need to invest in the appropriate equipment. To just buy a lens and focus on close hoping for a good shot is not the way to do it. You will need to have a good camera, like a Canon or Nikon, and a good macro lens with a good zoom factor. A good camera to use is a Canon 1DS Mark III with a 110mm macro lens

Choosing a subject can be quite tricky. It can sometimes be difficult to get a good depth of field with macro photography, especially if you are shooting a part of an object in an abstract sense.

For example: if you are shooting part of a candlestick that is ornate, it’s important to get the lighting right as well as having the vision to begin with. Often this can work out quite well whereby DOF is lacking allowing for high magnification and originality.

However, when shooting insects and such alike, magnification is important. Therefore, DOF is also reduced but makes up an integral part of the image.

Without being too technical, to increase your DOF you will need to set your camera on a higher F number-the F-stop. The highest is F8.0. When increased, the aperture of the lens becomes smaller prohibiting the amount of light that reaches the light sensor. To compensate for lighting, you must either use a flash; extend your shutter times or other sources of light. For still subjects, extended shutter times normally suffice, however, if your subject is on the move you will need to use a flash to prevent the image from blurring.

Using a tripod can also help, especially if you are waiting for you’re subject to appear or you are shooting still. This will prevent movement, which can be detrimental when working in macro photography. You will also need a release on your tripod. This will also allow you to move your camera around while securely attached.

Macro photography can be a real art form if executed properly. Subjects/objects are explored that are normally difficult to see with the naked eye and your vision for what makes a good image is heightened. There is an abundance of subjects and objects to choose from, whether it’s in your home or garden.
Firstly, you will need to think about what would make the subject/object interesting. Consider the texture, colour and shapes as well as a particular feature that would make a great shot. There are many ways to take a good macro image, and experimenting with angles that encompasses varied lighting can produce outstanding images. You can also build your own mini macro-studio in a simple box that is open at the top and at the front. You can drape it in any colour you like, for example; using black would marry well with objects of colour.

For your lighting you can simply clamp to reading lamps on the side, but make sure you use GE Reveal bulbs, these are not as harsh as normal light bulbs.

Macro photography is all about trial and error. You will bin most of your images until you get the hang of it. However, the results can be greatly rewarding, an art form that will allow you to explore your creative side that will be unique to you and you only.

Happy shooting.
